Growing up, my best friend's dad ran a small cafe in town. It was a popular breakfast spot on the weekends, and there was almost always a line waiting for a table. I remember being in awe when I would go in with my friend because we always got special treatment since his dad owned the place. That led me to want to learn everything I could about the restaurant business from my late junior high years onward.
